Hotels

London House Hotel

81 Kensington Gardens Square, London W2 4DJ, UK – 020 7243 1810

Great Place to stay! Our room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The room was a little small compared to what we normally get, but we don't travel to stay in our room very much at all. We spend as much time as possible walking everywhere to meet people and try local favorites. London is a great city with an amazing history, and the people were extremely nice. Hotel is in a quiet neighborhood.

We ended up in a tiny little room with hardly any space. That being said, the staff was very nice and the bed quite comfortable. I'm sure there are other rooms that are bigger. If not for the inexplicably tiny room, I'd rate it 4 stars. Fun note: our TV was a tiny wall-mounted flat screen right out of "The Office". If you aren't familiar, look up "Michael Scott TV" on YouTube.

Central Park Hotel

49-67 Queensborough Terrace, London W2 3SY, UK – 020 7229 2424

Rooms were petty good, although the bed wasn't exactly spectacular. Breakfast was alright, with a lot of things to choose from. Overall pretty decent for what you would expect

Booking in process wasn't good. Breakfast good. Room adequate. On the whole a decent place for a short London stay

St Paul's Hotel

153 Hammersmith Rd, Hammersmith, London W14 0QL, UK – 020 8846 9119

I do highly recommend this hotel. Clean, well located, good services. Prices are a little bit high, but it is worth it. Breakfast is on the light side, but everything else is excellent. If you are in Hammersmith, stay here!

Great location but way overpriced. The rooms are small and the service is very spotty. It is interesting the immigration debate that occurs worldwide because the hotel industry would not exist without immigrants. We asked for extra towels and they acted as if this need to be approved by Parliament. I also did not feel like I was an honored guest but a person who was suspicious after staying at the hotel for four days with my family. The front desk personnel were good but not great and could use some training in customer service. The location of this hotel is its best feature because it is located next to the Baron's Court tube station and the bus is right in front of the hotel. The neighborhood has some good food options and you are within walking distance of a great deal of places. I would stay in an Airbnb again over staying in a hotel again in London because every time I visit unless I am staying in a 5 star establishment the hotels have great disappointed me. I travel the World for a living and London is a great City but its accommodations are always in need of repairs and upgrades and definitely way overpriced. Internet was also very spotty and intermittent and the room we were issued did not warrant the price. I paid for an executive double room and they did not provide that type of room. The pictures of the rooms online are very deceiving.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Warwick

25 Warwick Way, Lillington and Longmoore Gardens, London SW1V 1QT, UK – 020 7834 4987

Could have done with some proper air con in this terribly hot weather. I felt so sorry for the staff behind the bar who could stand up the giant fans that had been set up. Usually love it here, but it was the hottest day of the year and we almost melted. Fabulous and cosy in the winter though!

The noise level when busy - poor acoustic - renders the Warwick annoyingly uncomfortable for anyone who might just want to hold a conversation with those sharing their table. The menu's a bit limited, but the food is pretty decent cooking, well presented if unmemorable. It's claim to be a gastro pub is stretching things more than a tad though. The service is casual at best, but friendly enough. If your not looking for anything fancy in the grub stakes, are a little less demanding than me and my friends clearly, or you want to practice your sign language... then you'll be fine.

The Builders Arms

13 Britten St, Chelsea, London SW3 3TY, UK – 020 7349 9040

Great restaurant/pub. We decided to hold a wedding dinner at this pub because of its close proximity to the Chelsea town hall but mainly because of the nice relaxed atmosphere and great decor inside. During the dinner the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Francesca and Alex did an amazing job catering for the needs of 34 people and going above and beyond what was expected of them, as the restaurant isn't a pure "wedding" type venue. They were always in contact with us about preparations. The service was fantastic and the selection and quality of drinks was very good too. The food itself was good, but not great and not much to brag about. But overall we had an amazing time, and because of the great service, great bar/drinks selections and general decor/atmosphere this place gets 5 stars from me :)

Food is really good here, and prices reasonable. One of Chelsea's hidden treasures. Intimate rustic ambience with a touch of Moroccan style. Nice secluded seating in places.

The Antelope

22 Eaton Terrace, Belgravia, London SW1W 8EZ, UK – 020 7824 8512

Really nice pub in poshest Belgravia. Efficient landlady. Some interesting WWII souvenirs on the walls.

Proper pub with relaxed atmosphere and great service. Excellent bloody marys!! The only reason I won't give it 5 stars is because the food is a bit disappointing

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!
